On the morning of December 26, 2019, the BIEC Enterprise Reformation Handover Ceremony and CCPIT Beijing and BNSIG Corporation Signing Ceremony were held at the National Convention Center. He Jiangchuan, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing North Star Industrial Group (BNSIG), and Zhang Yongming, Secretary of CPC Party Committee and Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing), signed a strategic cooperation agreement and unveiled Beijing International Exhibition Center Co., Ltd.

Beijing International Exhibition Center was established in 1985. Exerting its own advantages, BIEC has focused on industrial development, continuously involved in reform and innovation, cultivated and created a number of professional, branded, and international high-quality exhibitions, and cooperated with government departments, industry associations, relevant institutions to stage more than 300 large-, medium- and small-size international exhibitions in various forms such as government exhibitions and commercial exhibitions. In terms of commercial exhibitions, it has hosted a series of industry brand exhibitions such as the world’s leading China Refrigeration Expo, the domestic leading Big Data Expo in Guiyang and China Transportation Exhibition. The Exhibition Center has also led industrial and commercial entities to participate in more than 100 exhibitions overseas, served as a bridge for the economic cooperation of countries along the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and made outstanding contributions to building Beijing into an international exchange center and the development of the exhibition industry in Beijing.

He Jiangchuan believed that the transformation of BIEC, its merger into BNSIG and the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the CCPIT Beijing and BNSIG were important measures for Beijing to integrate and resort the resources of the exhibition industry, and were also a major event in the development of BNSIG. This explicitly proved that the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality attached great importance and had high hopes for the development of convention and exhibition industry in Beijing, and fully showcased the trust and strong support of BNSIG from the CCPIT Beijing. The merger of BIEC would help BNSIG better facilitate the international exchanges of Beijing and the causes of the state. It was also conducive to the rapid expansion of the convention and exhibition upstream business of BNSIG, the overall planning and distribution of convention and exhibition resources in Beijing. It would further promote the high-quality development of convention and exhibition industry in Beijing. BNSIG would work with the CCPIT Beijing to implement the instructions of the leaders of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, resolutely implement their decisions and deployment, firmly grasp the development opportunities of exhibition industry in China, and systematically study and research on how to give full play to the special functions of the exhibition industry and to build a city-level exhibition platform, with an aim to serve Beijing, lead the development of the industry, and contribute to building Beijing into an international exchange center and to the development of exhibition industry in China.

Zhang Yongming said that the merger of BIEC into BNSIG was a major measure taken by Beijing to build itself into “four centers” through promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the convention and exhibition industry. This would further promote the branding, professionalism, and internationalization of the exhibition industry in Beijing, and expand the international influence of service trade in Beijing. CCPIT Beijing would continue to support the business development of BIEC and believe that it would develop into a world-class exhibition brand enterprise under the leadership of BNSIG and North Star Events Group.

After the handover and signing ceremony, the leaders of BNSIG had a meeting with all employees of BIEC. At the meeting, Wei Mingqian, General Manager of North Star Events (NSE), introduced NSE’s overall business and development prospects; the leaders, representatives of department heads, and employee representatives of BIEC talked freely about their feelings and experiences.
